For many centuries already, precisely since as far back as 1571, Grottammare has been celebrating its patron saint. The highlight of the celebration has always coincided with the firing of numerous firecrackers. The noise caused by these bursts would, in fact, according to an ancient tradition, have the property of "breaking the clouds" and thus averting the devastating summer hailstorms that would endanger crops in the area. Once again this year the evenings of the Patron's Day will be enlivened by music, exhibitions and tastings, as well as a huge summer market exhibition!
